A patient that came to us was injected somewhere else and she had an acne outbreak. Is that something to worry about?
YES! An occlusion occurs 3 or 4 days later that looks like herpetic breakout or acne and its misdiagnose. It’s important to know what it looks like.
After there is an occlusion that area that doesn’t get any oxygen and starts to look like pustular lesions can look like herpes.
It has to be high on your radar when you see pustular lesions in the area or distribution of a vascular area.
Always talk to your patient and let them know what can happen before they get discharged. You have about 3 days to save the tissue and make sure your patient has your information.
